A University of Chicago study revealed that physical training had a larger impact on student skill than passive learning in the field of science. Learning by doing rather than watching.Virtual training tools encourage the following: The tech industry often trains its clients on how to use new software through virtual means since learning retention is consistently higher. The interactive nature of virtual training labs enables the optimal conditions for knowledge retention.Virtual environments and lessons can be taken anywhere around the world using a simple browser.Physical classrooms are difficult to scale for larger groups of students as the cost of scheduling meetings rises exponentially with more clients.Without the need for physical travel, virtual classrooms are more convenient for both students and instructors.Virtual labs are much less expensive since the travel expenses, IT resources, and laboratory maintenance necessary for classroom lessons aren’t as prominent.Interactive and immersive learning through virtual training is replacing the passive learning style of traditional classrooms and training environments for several reasons, including: The Advantage of Virtual Training Labs Over Traditional Classrooms They have the benefit of in-person training with a real instructor. They are easily accessible by a larger portion of students. They can be accessed from any machine with an Internet connection. They offer a direct, interactive connection with the training environment.Virtual training tools offer a variety of benefits that make them an attractive choice for customer training and software demonstrations: ![]() A relatively recent innovation, virtual training platforms have become increasingly popular in the tech industry to train both employees and clients on the complexities of new software.ĬloudShare virtual training lab environment – classroom What Are Virtual Training Labs Benefits? ![]() Aaron Dismuke, the voice of the 14-year-old Alphonse is excellent as well - not only does the irony of an adolescent voice coming from a six-foot-tall suit of armor succeed in getting a few chuckles, but the voice represents the character well. Vic Mignogna, the actor who plays Ed in the American cast is absolutely brilliant - the voice he provides is believable and emotionally charged, a task most voice actors tend to fail miserably at. Well-written dialogue, intense plot, and the best voice acting I've heard in a television series in a long time. But at a cost that they may be unwilling to accept. From that point on, Ed and Al set out to learn the secret of "Human Transmutation," the one Alchemic skill that would have any hope of bringing back their mother. An abomination that cannot move or think on its own. The thing they bring back is not their mother, but an inhuman creature composed of hastily put-together body parts - something that is human and yet not human. Now, you'd think that would be an equivalent enough exchange - two body parts and a whole body for their mother's life. To recap - Ed loses his right arm and right leg, and Alphonse's body is taken. In doing so, he makes yet another sacrifice - his right arm is lost to the demons of the abyss. Desperate to restore his brother's life, Edward uses his own blood to inscribe an Alchemic circle in a suit of armor, binding Alphonse's soul to the metal. This rule of "Equivalent exchange" states that "Nothing can be gained without first losing something of equal value." The boys succeed in resurrecting their mother, but at a horrible cost - Edward's left leg is taken, as is Al's body. Devastated, the boys decide to use the ancient art of Alchemy to bring her back to life - but there's one complication: The main rule of Alchemy. In a tragic accident, their mother is killed. The tragic story is of the two Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse ("Al" for short). I myself am not a particularly big fan of anime - I enjoy one every so often, but this absolutely blew me away. I had heard about it many times form several of my friends who were die-hard fans of anime of any kind. ![]() ![]() With the work done by the seamstress, makeup/hair team, model, and myself we were able to create several beguiling images, and I thought I would share them with you all. When I had heard that Fullmetal Alchemst, one of the most popular cartoons in Japan was coming to America, I must admit, I was a bit excited. Here's an outtake as hair was being adjusted in the studio I feel the model's expression captures the character well:View image: In post processing, a bit of additional color correction and toning was performed, as well as adjusting the eyes to have slit-like pupils and a lovely purple hue:View image: View image: View image: Some of the shots taken are adaptive and look quite good in B&W:View image: View image: View image: And that's about it! A shorter, curly wig for the tight shots, and a long, straight wig for some concept shots. Anything is possible, given a large enough budget, but this was a personal project and I wasn't going to spend $1000 for copious amounts of human hair. After some research, it didn't seem feasible to try and get long, curly, waist length or longer hair for the shoot. This consideration, along with the ouroboros chest tattoo (to be applied with a stencil) lends itself well to airbrushed makeup, which was sourced from TEMPTU. The seamstress made a dress pattern and we met with the model to do a fitting:View image: For the makeup, the important thing was to get a nice even foundation on the face, chest, shoulders, and upper back. To this end, I hired a seamstress and met with her to pick out a fabric. I found the perfect model:View image: The next step was wardrobe. There were several things that needed to be worked out to make the shoot happen - model, hair, makeup, wardrobe. Eventually I netflixed the DVDs and watched the whole thing in order. For over a year, I've wanted to do a themed photo shoot of the character Lust. I got into Full Metal Alchemist watching it on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. Due to the limited number of people able to fill positions within the city government, Compton effectively ceased to exist as a functioning city. By the end of the year, Compton was down to only eighty acres of land, with five remaining voters residing within that territory. In 1890, a series of votes were held by the residents of Compton, with the aim of shedding significant portions of the city. The first City Council meeting was held on May 14, 1888. On May 11, 1888, the city of Compton was incorporated with a population of 500 people. In January 1888, a petition supporting the incorporation of Compton was forwarded to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, who in turn forwarded the petition to the State Legislature. Compton donated his land to incorporate and create the city of Compton in 1889, but he did stipulate that a certain acreage be zoned solely for agriculture and named Richland Farms. A series of town meetings were held to discuss incorporation of their little town. īy 1887, the settlers realized it was time to make improvements to the local government. Many in the Compton party wanted to relocate to a friendlier climate and settle down, but as there were two general stores within traveling distance-one in the pueblo of Los Angeles, the other in Wilmington-they eventually decided to stay put. To gather firewood it was necessary to travel to mountains close to Pasadena. The weather continued to be harsh, rainy and cold, and fuel was difficult to find. ![]() Compton's earliest settlers were faced with terrible hardships as they farmed the land in bleak weather to get by with just the barest subsistence. However, to avoid confusion with the Camptonville located in Yuba County, the name was shortened to Compton. Originally named Gibsonville, after one of the tract owners, it was later called Comptonville. These families had traveled by wagon train south from Stockton, California, in search of ways to earn a living other than the rapid exhaustion of gold fields. In 1867, Griffith Dickenson Compton led a group of 30 pioneers to the area. ![]() The tree that marked the original northern boundary of the rancho still stands at the corner of Poppy and Short streets. James, agreed, but the 2 things I mentioned work with it turned off otherwise. It needs to go!īlogAid: I think Jetpack is still using XML-RPC behind the scenes here. I hard code XML-RPC off, as it is still the hacker’s fave way to brute force the login page. What little my client’s use of Jetpack (stats and VaultPress) doesn’t require XML-RPC. ~ posted by James Nylen: About plugin dependencies, see also Issues This means we need to solve plugin dependencies before we can really start removing stuff, and calculate our own dependencies for at least the most popular plugins. Still using Jetpack as an example: if someone requests to install Jetpack, we should prevent this unless the XML-RPC plugin is also installed (or auto-install it too). However, we’d still want to handle other plugins that depend on those features. I like the idea of moving less-used features out to plugins too. I like the idea of its being a core plugin. This improves the security profile of CP without breaking backwards-compatibility. XML-RPC should be moved to a core plugin if people need it they can enable it, if they don’t they can delete it. And of course I do realise that there are a bunch of people in love with that things, so that is why I said topic for a different discussion ![]() What I mean about Jetpack, the mere fact that you need a account for it to work and it is constantly talking to, means that I would be inclined to vote the whole thing as restricted, meaning: has no business on ClassicPress. Yes, I agree about investigating which plugins it would break. Before we can make any decision to remove or disable a feature, we need to know roughly which plugins it will break, and decide whether we are OK with that. Jetpack is a topic for a different discussion I think Let’s investigate which plugins this would break, especially widely used plugins. As this one already has votes, I don’t want to edit it anymore (if even possible), maybe open a new one that gives that option? I would prefer simply to have a simple on-off switch for XML-RPC, and for the default setting to be off. I actually use XML-RPC on my localhost test sites (though never on a live site). I think having a wide range of means of accessing CP will always be a good thing. I am not particularly keen on this one, unless there is a simple way to convert use of the XML-RPC spec to using the REST API. ![]() ![]() Peter Could Pass The Anti-Venom Suit To Harry After all, there is a sizable part of the fan base that prefers when Peter Parker uses only simple tech and his normal abilities. While there have been some clever suggestions for how Peter could keep access to the Anti-Venom Symbiote, like the white on his costume housing the white goo instead of just being an accent, it could be nice to return to a more grounded costume in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3. This way, he could return to his classic look in the final game without players worrying about potential plot holes like Peter simply forgetting he has the Anti-Venom suit when he could be using it to make himself stronger. In the final fight with Carnage, Peter could spend the last of the Anti-Venom’s energy destroying the red Symbiote, with all traces of Anti-Venom removed from Peter’s system once he defeats Carnage. Throughout the DLC, Peter could mention how the Anti-Venom suit is weakening each time he uses it to remove the Carnage Symbiote from Cletus Kassidy’s cultists, citing how the truly evil parasite is more challenging to burn through. Just like The City That Never Sleeps DLC reused assets from Sable International’s mercenaries, a Carnage DLC could feature red versions of the basic Symbiote enemy types from the main game. Plus, Insomniac Games already has Symbiote tech designed for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, so a DLC focusing on Carnage would be a good way to get more use out of it. Instead of trying to squeeze Carnage into Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, which is already set to feature Peter Parker’s two greatest foes, making him the main focus of a DLC could give his story a chance to breathe. The most obvious way for Peter to shed the Anti-Venom suit is in a conflict with Carnage. I think if you need a simple daily trainer or a value pair of sneakers for around town, the Run Swift 2 is worth a look. Integrated fly wire cables provide midfoot lockdown, while lightweight cushioning delivers a responsive ride. Sale Price: 83.99 (Retail Price: 119.99), Brand: Nike, Perfect for: Outlet, Running, Description: The Nike Run Swift 2. Womens NIKE run swift running shoe is tailored to your foot with highly breathable mesh in the forefoot and heel and tightly woven mesh in the midfoot for support. The durable rubber outsole provides the traction you need to crush your daily training. Nike have stacked up the foam cushioning for a plush platform underfoot. It’s more comfortable, and a bit more high-end feeling than say the Quest 4 or the Downshifter 11, and I like the classic, refined style better as well. The collar and tongue elevate the comfort on first step-in. Once again, like many other Nike budget shoes, there are no reflective elements on the Run Swift 2, meaning you need to be extra careful should you be out running after dark.Īt $70 I think there’s actually good value in this shoe. The upper is plenty breathable with its wide-mesh construction and even though it has a thick 9.0mm padded tongue, the shoe didn’t feel hot on my feet. This shoe is comfortable on pavement and mild dirt running paths, which is a nice element for a do-it-all style of shoe like this. An updated yet familiar shape delivers breathable stability. The outsole also features 2.2mm lugs giving it extra grip on varied terrain. The Nike Run Swift 2 is designed with shorter miles in mind. The full-rubber outsole is generously thick at 4.4mm (average outsoles are just 3.5mm), and the rubber is firm at 88.5HC on the durometer (compared to an average of 80.5HC), meaning the shoe should wear slowly and have plenty of life. The shoe seems well built with plenty of welded overlays on the upper to keep debris out and act as an added layer of protection against abrasion. The Run Swift 2 isn’t all that swift… At 10.3 ounces (291g) it’s more of a clunker than a light and nimble shoe built for speed.Īgain, I see this as more of a performance sneaker than a true running shoe because of the weight here. The Nike Run Swift 2 is designed with shorter miles in mind. The flex was affected just 3% compared to the average shoe being 35.3% stiffer at cold temps. FREE Shipping and Free Returns available, or buy online and pick-up in. I actually think they look sweet and feel good enough to wear walking around in.Īnother positive is this shoe didn’t seem to stiffen up much in our freezer tests. Honestly, for me, it’s a bit dull and I wouldn’t want to run these for anything longer than a recreational jog, but where I so dig them is just as a town sneaker. Your browser does not support the video tag. In addition you could check internet speed with a network speed test as well to compare wireless and wired connectivity. You can run a WiFi speed test on all your devices to idenitify the ones that have a strong WiFi signal and the ones that don't. Selectively enabling and disabling your WiFi hotspots can quickly help identify the problematic device. Maybe your device is not connecting to the correct WiFi hotspot, so it must go through a thick wall. If the interet speeds differ on your connected devices, however, the poor connectivity is likely either due to a local misconfiguration or device capabilities. If the internet speeds are the same for the weak and strong signal, it's likely an ISP issue. Just run multiple tests, one close to your WiFi Hotspot and one in the place where you're having issues because the signal strength diminishes. So to figure out if your connectivity issues are due to your ISP, your wireless connection or a local router issue running a WiFi Test will give you the insights you're looking for. Most of the devices on your home network today are not connected with a wired connection anymore. While I don't wish to suggest or infer 'back to the drawing board', this version of speed test defintely has the potential to be even better and more useful.Running a WiFi Speed Test is the right solution for most people if they encounter connectivity issues as they are usually internet speed related.
